More About Ocala
Ocala, Marion County -- the perfect mix of city and country.
Situated in north central Florida, surrounded by rolling hills and Spanish moss draped oaks Ocala has the vibrancy of a larger city. An active business community operates in the heart of the city on appealing tree-lined streets dotted with neighborhoods of charming Victorian and Tudor-style homes. Like spokes on a wheel from that hub are numerous newer developments comprised of single family homes, condos, townhouses and apartments.
If even that is more “city’ than you prefer, Marion County offers many other possibilities from small horse farms of only a few acres to large tracts of acreage suitable for the commercial breeding farm, as well as gated equestrian communities. There are luxury golf course communities featuring estate homes and for those who enjoy hours spent on or in the water, there are waterfront homes on Lake Weir and Lake Kerr and along the Rainbow River in Dunnellon.
A growing trend in Ocala’s local housing
market are gated communities designed for the active 55+
set; these communities
feature every imaginable type of recreation not limited to golf courses , tennis
courts, fitness centers, swimming pools, scenic walking trails, shopping,
restaurants and social clubs and classes. Many of these developments are located
to the west of Ocala on the “State Road 200 Corridor” or to the south in
Summerfield. Possibly the most well known of these is The Villages which
straddles Marion, S
umter and Lake counties.
